Word of Mouth Advertising

What is word of mouth advertising (WOM)? According to entrepreneur.com WOM is an unpaid form of promotion in which satisfied customers tell other people how much they like a business, product, or service.

From Wikipedia, the (free encyclopedia) we get WOM is the passing of information from person to person by oral communication. Wikipedia also tells us the oldest form of WOM is storytelling.

Today word of mouth isn’t just what you hear from your neighbors, family, friends, and business colleagues. Oh no it’s also what you hear from Facebook friends, Linkedin connections, Google Circles, Twitter tweets, and any other form of social media. It doesn’t matter if you’re in retail, real estate, automotive, construction, doctor, or lawyer ect….Word of mouth is one of if not the best form of advertising you can have.

Now you’re probably thinking Greg what are you saying don’t you sell promotional products and ad specialties. Well yes and no what I’m truly selling is a creative idea that promotes and advertises your business. Promotional products / ad specialties are the media used to bringing that idea to life. So how does all this tie into you and your business? For instance let’s say that your customer/client isn’t running down the street screaming at the top of their lungs about how they love you. What can help boost WOM advertising? You got it promotional /ad specialties! Someone uses a pen, sees a key tag, calendar, t-shirt, decal or whatever the product may be. That sparks the conversation about who you are, what you do, and where you’re located. Today being the fast paced society that  it is you need  to keep your company name in front of your customers and prospects alike. If you don’t your competitor will.

Why Promotional Products?

You hear a lot about the economy these days. How businesses, government agencies, and yes even non-profit organizations are doing cut backs, on there spending. They try to  find more cost effective ways to fit within their budget. While at the same time trying to reproduce the same results or better.  It cost 6 to5 times more to get a new customer as it does to keep one that already have.  In a study conducted by the Advertising Specialties Institute called the Power of Promotional Products resulted in the following statistics.

  • 84% of end-users can name the advertisers on the items they receive
  • 62% have done business with the advertiser AFTER receiving the item
  • End-users keep products for 7 months
  • The average cost-per-impression of a promotional product = $0.004
  • The CPI for advertising specialties beats all forms of media (except billboards).
Why promotional products? To put it plain, simple, and to the point because  not only are they  cost effective they produce results for your bottom line. That is what's important right?
